I have been working on a new sports hall for a Special Needs School in Portsmouth for the last two years and it is finally approaching completion. I have taken some photos today of the external materials and the climbing wall internally. The external form is a robust ‘rough’ base with a smooth metal clad upper half wrapping around the hall, climbing wall and plant room. I used a split face block at low level to give the rough appearance and a secret fix composite cladding panel at high level for the smooth face.
As it is a special needs school the head teacher was very keen to have an activity that focussed the energy of the BESD (Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties) pupils and a dedicated climbing wall room has been created with walls of different difficulties.
Once the project is completed I will post some finished pictures of the project.
